Jakob Ehe — Product & UX Design

Making complex technology usable.

I design enterprise software that makes complex technologies understandable, usable and actionable.

Different industries. The same fundamental challenge.

Whether designing enterprise infrastructure, AI-powered workflows or connected product experiences, my work starts with understanding complexity — and finding the simplest way for people to navigate it.

Product images are rendered reconstructions — client interfaces and documents stay confidential.

200+ applications. One shared design language.

Across the 200+ internal applications of CERN’s Business Computing group, teams kept solving the same interface problems on their own. Starting from a pilot on EDH, I helped establish a shared design foundation — and the community of practice that keeps it evolving without me.

AI can extract information. But can people trust it?

Reviewers re-checked even high-confidence AI predictions by hand. I designed the review workflow that links every extracted value to its evidence, turns uncertainty into priorities and makes correction part of the work.

When the device changes, what should stay familiar?

Should the MBUX companion app follow smartphone conventions, or carry the vehicle’s own interaction logic? Instead of settling it by preference, I built both as interactive concepts and tested them with 32 participants.

02 / Expertise

From understanding the problem to shaping the system.

I work across the product design process, connecting user needs, technical constraints and business objectives. The focus isn’t producing interfaces — it’s making informed decisions about how products should work.

  1. UX research

    Understanding how people actually work.

I use research to investigate behaviour, test assumptions, and understand the workflows and mental models that shape a product experience.

  2. Systems thinking

    Making complex product ecosystems coherent.

I structure interfaces, interaction patterns and shared foundations so that complex software stays understandable and maintainable as it grows.

  3. Interaction design

Turning technical capabilities into useful experiences.

I translate complex functionality into clear workflows, meaningful feedback, and interaction models that support confident decisions.

  4. Design leadership

Helping teams make better decisions together.

I set up shared design practices, facilitate critique, and build systems that let teams create consistent experiences without routing every decision through one person.

  5. Technical collaboration

Designing solutions that work beyond the prototype.

I work with product and engineering teams to connect design decisions to implementation constraints, existing systems and production workflows.

03 / About

A designer comfortable with complexity.

I’m Jakob, a product and UX designer based in Munich. My work has taken me across scientific computing, enterprise software, artificial intelligence and automotive technology.

These environments have something in common: the technology is sophisticated, the constraints are real, and good design requires understanding much more than the interface.

At CERN, I worked on establishing shared UX standards across a large enterprise application ecosystem. At PwC, I designed interactions that help people understand and verify AI-generated information. At Mercedes-Benz, I investigated how interaction principles can stay coherent across connected devices.

Across these projects I’ve developed a research-driven approach to product design that combines analytical thinking, close collaboration with engineering, and a strong focus on how people actually use software. Since July 2026 I’ve continued that work independently.

Complex problems deserve thoughtful design.

I’m interested in working with teams building ambitious technology — especially where research, systems thinking and interaction design can make a meaningful difference.
